Who Am I?
There are two unique things that happen to the children of academics (I assume it's similar for military children): First, you move around a lot. Second, you learn to value and enjoy the elusive, almost child-like qualities of curiosity and probing questions. I have both gained and suffered from these traits of mine: I have experienced and explored a broad sample of life's many offerings. But my professional history has more in common with a modern panting than it does an architect's blueprints - and sometimes blueprints come in handy ;-)

Childhood & High School
I was born near Silicon Valley in Califormia, moved to Dartmouth, NH, then to Boston, MA. I spent all of my teen years growing up in Baltimore, MD. I worked in restaurants as a waiter, in butcher shops (filleting chicken), fish markets (stunning & sorting crabs), the Baltimore Zoo (demonstrating owls and snakes to children; playing with Otters), and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington. D.C. (maintaining water chemistry in their giant tropical coral reef aquarium). I went to Stony Run Friends - a Quaker school in Baltimore City. While there, I was an aquarium-club-founding, Chess-club-founding, Badminton-playing nerd.

Biology & College
I attended Earlham College in Richmond, IN, another Quaker School (I am not a Quaker - But I loved the silent reflection - especially before my 8:00 a.m. Calculus II class). During that time I continued to work restaurants as a waiter, took a one-year apprenticechip in an animal behavior lab at Johns Hopkins Univeristy in Baltimore, and a summer studying bee behavior in Sweden. I started a band with some friends. Finally, I earned a B.A. in Biology.

Genetics at Research MIT
After college I took a position in a neuroscience and genetics lab at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Resaerch at MIT. We worked on very interesting questions of how genetcs effects the formation of neurons and groupings of neurons within mouse and fly models. But I needed more creativity in my life.

My Band & MySpace
I formed a band with some incredibly talented people. With me as a producer, music co-writer, and manager, I began to get a taste for business and how to use the web to market products. Bak then (2000 and on) MySpace was known to very few outside the music business.

Concert Production & Promotion Entrepreneur
Driven by the need to book my own band, and our lead singer once he went solo, I turned my relationships with venue owners and reputation into a general concerts production and booking service: Presure Drop Productions. By this time I had already begun using viral video, forums, MySpace, and other social marketing toos to promote my artists an events.

MBA
With the desire to take my business to the next level ,or perhaps discover something even more interesting, my curiosity ot the best of me and I applied to Babson College's Olin Graduate School of Management. They had threir dounbts, but I scraped in. It was an incredible experience and I highliy recommend it.

Pre-recession
I had developed a love of product marketing and social networks during my MBA. I landed a gret job doing web marketing for a venture-backed green social network. I am also doing due diligence consulting for a small angel investment fund. Investment dollors have now dried up amost completely. With minimal work to do for my current clients, I am now...
